Survived the 2 year old double birthday party!
Hurrah! It was a great day and night, great to get everyone together again. The girls had a ball despite having to take a nap in the middle of the proceedings. They nearly missed the highlight...a fabulous Makka Pakka cake. I used butter cream icing to decorate. I was going to use the roll out icing but I think it would have looked tragic if I had started to colour it.
My Mum and I seriously over estimated the quantity of food needed. In a big way. I think we were counting all toddlers as adult eaters. As a result we had a fry up for breakfast with the usual sauages, rashers and potato bread. Accompanied by tasty hummus and bread sticks and more actual bread. Lunch followed with spinach and riccotta filo tarts and mushroom filo tarts with a ridiculous variety of cous cous in every format. Desert followed wih banoffi pie (with the cream scrapped off..I wasn't fretting about my figure, obviously, but to appease the lactose intolerance:) )washed down with Makka Pakka remains. Phew.... Dinner is looming.......
I'm looking at it as good practice for going to my parents for Christmas. Shortcrust pastry all the way with delish mince pies, icing galore on a gigantic Christmas cake and a boozey Christmas pud. Bring it on, we can take it. Just as long as I remember to wear the very A line dress or pyjama bottoms for a week.
